The Remarks column uses two terms to indicate when a flight is not operated directly by the carrier shown in the search results.
opb — Operated By
opb stands for operated by and indicates that the flight is physically operated by a different carrier on a wet-lease basis. The airline shown in your results is the one selling or marketing the flight, but another operator is providing the aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance to actually run it.
For more detail on how wet-leases work, please refer to our article on codeshares and wet-leases.
Operating Carrier
The operating carrier refers to the airline that physically operates the aircraft on a codeshare flight. On a codeshare, the flight may be sold under one carrier's code but operated by another — the operating carrier is the one actually flying the aircraft.
For more detail on how codeshares work, please refer to our article on codeshares and wet-leases.
Further detail on the Flight Details page
Clicking on a flight number opens the Flight Details page, where additional information is available for wet-lease and codeshare flights:
- Operated by — shows the wet-lease operator physically running the flight
- Operating Carrier — identifies the airline operating the aircraft on a codeshare flight
- Operating Flight Number — the flight number under which the service is actually operated by the operating carrier, which may differ from the code shown in your search results
- Codeshare Flights — lists all the additional carrier codes under which the same operating flight is also sold by other airlines
