How is the Aircraft Natural ID generated?

Modified on Thu, 25 Jun at 4:48 PM

The Natural ID is a combination of the Production Line and either the Construction Number (C/N) or Manufacturer Serial Number (MSN). It is mostly used in our internal procedures and can change.

Why would the Natural ID change?

An example would be an aircraft on order whose serial number (C/N or MSN) is not yet known. In this case we use a placeholder value alongside the production line until we identify the serial number.

Which identifier should I use as a primary key?

For reporting purposes, the aircraft_id can be used as a primary key. Each aircraft has its own unique ID, which should never change.
